Kay is a mother of four and a grandmother of seven and a member of 1st Baptist Church, Greensboro.
Civic Participation
The Honorable Kay Cashion is not a newcomer to Guilford County and has a long, steady and dependable history of civic achievements. Katie's community spirit began in 1957 when she became an active member in the Greensboro Junior Women's Club.
Following her Chairmanship, she served as Chair of the Building Committee through completion of the renovation. Kay also served on the Endowment Committee of the Agency and was instrumental in establishing and fundraising for the initial funding of the Clara House Endowment.
When Clara House's former quarters suffered a fire, Kay donated her time and talent to directing the restoration of the House, at the same time realizing another structure more suited to the needs of the residents would have to be found. Thus, the initiative after she became Chair of the
Board of Trustees.
F&CS recognized her efforts in several ways: For her efforts on the fire restoration Kay was presented with their "For Love of Family" Award some three years after her service as Board Chair.
